GnomeMeeting 0.98: to be released next week

GnomeMeeting 0.98 will be available next week, probably on tuesday. The code is actually frozen and translators are working on the translations.
This release will be a major upgrade, and a huge step toward a 1.00 release. Thanks for your support!

Snapshots packages + Poll about GnomeMeeting

We are building nightly packages for various Linux distributions like Debian Sid, RedHat 9, or even Slackware. This is still a work in progress, but Debian packages for SID are already built nightly, Woody and Sarge packages being built regularly too. Please visit http://snapshots.seconix.com for more information.
Don't forget to report bugs, and give suggestions when you are using the bleeding-edge packages or sources.

GnomeMeeting in a professional environment

If you are using GnomeMeeting in your company, or in a professional environment, I would be very happy to hear in what kind of environment you are using it. I will soon give another conference in Belgium, and I would like to talk about some cases where people are professionally using GnomeMeeting. Thanks.

Suse 8.2 packages

Stefan Bruens has built a new GnomeMeeting package for Suse 8.2. You should use that package with the libraries provided by Suse. The difference between that package and the one provided by Suse is that this one has all the features that GnomeMeeting offers (including the configuration assistant that was missing in the Suse version).

Downtime + misc. news

The main website of GnomeMeeting has been down the last 2 days, the problem is now fixed. Sorry for the inconvenience.
The ILS server has a new IP and is hosted on a new computer, your DNS should already point to this new IP. Currently some users are still registered on the old ils.seconix.com and some users are already registered on the new ils.seconix.com.

Spiennes Linux Days, Comic strip with GnomeMeeting

I'll be doing a GnomeMeeting talk at the Spiennes Linux Days in Belgium this week-end.
The website es.comp.os.linux.* publishes a comic strip every week and this week, they are featuring GnomeMeeting.

New software for the ILS server

Our ILS master, Paul, has coded a few days on a new ILS server. The other server was not very scalable and crashed very often when too many GnomeMeeting users were registered. The new ILS server is more scalable (we reached 180 online users yesterday night without any problem), but it is also faster, less than 1 second to list all registered users.

SUSE 8.1 RPMs

As promised earlier this week, SUSE RPMs of GnomeMeeting 0.96.1 for SUSE 8.1 are available now in the download section. Thanks to Stefan Bruens for his work on those packages.

GnomeMeeting PRO - Press Release - <b>1st April Fool</b>

2003-04-02 Update: It was of course the traditional

1st April Fools

;)

We are proud to announce today the upcoming release of GnomeMeeting PRO. GnomeMeeting PRO is the successor of GnomeMeeting GPL supporting TCPA to secure your calls. GnomeMeeting PRO will be sold for only 50 USD and will offer new features compared to the old GnomeMeeting GPL version like Palladium support, enhanced and patented audio and video codecs, better code quality.
We decided to close the source code of GnomeMeeting because we think it is a good way to produce more secure software.
